Publisher's Synopsis
Selected Papers from the 10th IWA Specialist Conference on Watershed and River Basin Management, held in Calgary, Canada, 13-15 September 2005. The continuing challenges of the multi-disciplinary field of watershed and river basin management again motivated the submission of high-quality papers to the 10th conference of the IWA Specialist Group on River Basin Management. Leading experts from around the world presented work on water resources management, including the development and implementation of river basin management strategies and water management plans; impacts of climate change and associated risk management strategies; water supply protection, including watershed partnerships to protect surface water quality and quantity; sustainable urban drainage; pollution sources and control measures; and monitoring techniques and modeling. Following a full peer review 37 papers have been selected for these proceedings, which collectively constitute an authoritative survey of the latest developments in watershed and river basin management. They form an essential and up-to-date reference point for scientists, environmental engineers, managers, administrators and regulators active in this field.
