This is the fourteenth books of poems for Emma. It is heavily influenced by goddess & also by the understanding of temporality & the eternal return that is given by Deleuze. The Enuma Elish was produced in Babylon when the patriarchy started. This imposed order & focus on identity replaced the chaotic goddess in Her brutal power with weakness. McLean does not like this & is delighted to note that only what is shattered & fragmentary returns, only what does not bow to time, but savours instead the eternal scream of intensity. There may well be BDSM references in this book, there may well be prayer. Certainly there is love.
