Publisher's Synopsis

The theme of "Wind, Sand and Hope," can be stated in three words: Hope brings change. Our protagonist, Federico Llanos was a hero in the civil war that raged through two small countries near the edge of the Chilean desert of Atacama. He gave up his fame by becoming a pacifist. He was Court martialed and sentenced to be executed. He escaped and took a long walk home. His hope never failed those dramatic changes. Llanos eventually found a monastery which he entered. Some 20 years later he became the Abbot of that monastery and its 25 monks. Oil is then discovered under the sand around the monastery. Another civil war is planned, and all the monks lives are at stake. Llanos manages to prevent that war. The book then becomes a thriller. What makes "Wind, Sand and Hope," different." Every third chapter of this book jumps into the present day, and tells you that is discussed during the meetings of the X-Treme book club. The discussions are brilliant and sometimes humorous, but always enlightening.
