Publisher's Synopsis

Such was the relief when the terrible First World War ended that much of the intricacy of reaching an Armistice soon became obscure; but on October 12th 1918 while Prime Minister Lloyd George was staying at Danny House, near Hurstpierpoint, news reached him that the United States had almost agreed a bi-lateral armistice with Germany to the great disadvantage of the Empire. In confronting this situation at an impromptu War Cabinet the next day, the Minutes record that Lloyd George lost a vote to continue fighting until the Allies occupied German Territory.

The play was commissioned by Hurst Festival for performance in 2018 to commemorate the centenary of the Danny House War Cabinet. It is available for public performance on application to Hurst Festival.
