Xiangqi Grandmaster Hu Ronghua and His Elephant Openings

One of the most effective way to learn Xiangqi's opening is to study Grandmaster games. This will help to build your Xiangqi opening repertoire. Xiangqi openings are studied in great depth by Grandmasters. A new Xiangqi variation, previously unexplored variations are often discovered and played by Grandmasters. You have to do some home work. You will need to get a bunch of the games played by a very strong Xiangqi player who is an an expert in certain variation and analyze them move by move.
