Manchester Metropolitan University

MMU have launched their own smart card (Metcard) in conjunction with Card Commerce and Barclays

Blackwell's have integrated this into their own tillpoint and online purchasing systems

The Metcard was issued to around 1600 students pre-loaded with £1000

The Metcard can be used for purchases throughout campus, including the Student Union, refectories and Balckwell's

Queen's University, Belfast

Queen's University use their own smart card system called the Magna Carta card

The Magna Carta card has been integrated into Blackwell's tillpoint and online purchasing systems

The University gave 4000 of their students cards loaded with £110, which is added to a bursary purse to spend at Blackwell's and other outlets

The students can use this money to purchase textbooks for their courses

Blackwell's also opened a pop-up shop so that the students can use their card on campus or online
