Nick Hornby's second bestselling novel is about sex, manliness and fatherhood. Will is thirty-six, comfortable and child-free. And he's discovered a brilliant new way of meeting women - through single-parent groups. Marcus is twelve and a little bitnerdish: he's got the kind of mother who made him listen to Joni Mitchell rather than Nirvana. Perhaps they can help each other out a little bit, and both can start to act their age.

Nick Hornby's About a Boy is a really good read. The characters of Will and Marcus show not only a generation gap between them, but also forge a everlasting friendship that tells the story. Hornby attackling the issues that every 12 year old faces when in secondary school:- peer pressure, bullying, crushes, falling in love etc shows a great connection with readers. This is a book that will make you laugh, cry and also very thoughtful. Genius! - Sarah Jones Write a review
