The translation of the Hebrew Bible into Greek in the third and second centuries BC gave rise to the Septuagint and enabled the spread of biblical ideas around the educated world. While this work takes the form of a festschrift, it is actually a focused collection of articles by leading biblical scholars on the present state of Septuagint studies.
