Double Act

The artistic pair of Gilbert and George is arguably the most famous example of a remarkable phenomenon that has taken place over the past two decades. All over the world, artists are forming partnerships to further their creative and cultural missions. Featuring a dynamic design with numerous colour illustrations, this book examines a dozen such "double acts" from the fields of photography, video, painting, sculpture and performance art. Themes such as social borders and taboos, gender and sublimated identities, war and punishment and history and nostalgia reveal how these pairs of artists work together to intentionally blur the boundaries of individual effort and ego.
