I first read this book when I was 13 years old and it is the book equivalent of comfort food. Whenever I feel stressed, tired or disillusioned with the world, I can return to `Emma'. The heroine is flawed like most humans and there the formulaic style of Austen's structure means that any angst the reader feels is limited in anticipation of a happy ending. - Jane Holmes
