German Memories in Asia is an interesting collection of memories by the author Rajkumar Kanagasingam.
I was greatly fascinated by the sequence the historical events are moving from early human migration and the times of Roman Empire era to the current events of Germans around the world and their migrations, life styles, encounters and assimilation.
I really enjoyed the narrative style in describing the Franco-Prussian War and the Otto von Bismarck's statesmanship.
The author has researched very well and highlighted the important points in the history of divided German states.
The Life-styles of Brazilian Germans really interesting along with Amish and Mennonite people.
The way, the author described the German colonies in Africa, Asia and the Pacific takes us to the time-back and very enjoyable.
The painful memories of Volga Germans and the First and Second World War events of Firebombing on Dresden, Danube Swabians, General Eisenhower's strategies on starving German POWs are touching our heart.
Really it is interesting the way, the author has brought his memories since his childhood in the war-ravaged Jaffna Peninsula and then in the land of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam'LTTE'. -
