In America's Chicago, Madison Street Skid Row hasn't existed for decades, but Wexler paints a vibrant picture of what it was like for a young dentist to try to run his office in a world of winos, street hustlers, and shady characters. It has humor, pathos, and even a murder! A really good read, and a terrific first book for this writer. Highly recommended for all, but particularly for fans of Chicago, its history, and its hardscrabble past. - Central Park Write a review
