A challengin evokative childrens book that i enjoyed on face value as a 15 year old, then under stood the deeper layers on subsequent readings up to my most recent reading for an exam where all themes and values became evident. -
Stuart FrazerA gripping read that puts you on the side of Lyra and Will against the consequences of a god ruled world. Encouraging true freedom of thought through epic action and adventure.
Transfers to stage and screen, but is best viewed in the sceen of your own mind as you live, love and learn with Lyra. -
Tom KernanI think its brilliant because its so full of adventure just like I dreamed of when I was young.
I also like how there is a mix of the world as we know it in oxford and the alternative of the parallel worlds. The trilogy as a whole is intense and fascinating. -
