The author, Vasu Daryanani, shares his account of life experiences, journeys and revelations. Born in 1934, in the province of Sind, then in India, the author witnessed the reality of discrimination from an early age. He describes his families' move from the newly-formed Pakistan to India following partition. Fleeing mass violence and leaving behind their home and all their possesions, the family found themselves displaced, vunerable and persecuted by non sindhi Indians. Mr Daryanani's autobiography is a personal exploration of a life of ever-changing circumstances and environments requiring great adaptability. Giving a historical overview of life in Indian both before, and in the aftermath of partition, and charting the author's emigration from Mumbai to London in 1963, where he lives to the present day. This book examines religious, social and cultural changes and issues. Mr Daryanani's observations of life are astute, and often stark. Taking a positive and proactive stance in facing his life's challenges, he emerges as humourous, philisophical, sociable and disciplined. This is a fascinating story of human adaptability and comprehension.
