Rockland is a peaceful town on the coast of Maine where most people are up before the sun and the lobsters are plenty. Jesse, one of the local lobstermen, and Tom, the "white collar" type, have been best friends since they were kids. Then something happens that neither of them will soon forget. Strange things begin happening and suddenly Tom disappears, leaving behind only a note of his possible whereabouts, which sends Jesse on a journey north. On his way, Jesse runs into many mysterious characters. One could hold the key to everything. Aunt Mae, the owner of the Old Dog Inn, is a small, fragile-looking old woman who seems sweet and innocent, but is she? Is she there to help Jesse, or is dear old Aunt Mae trying to stop him from finding Tom and from uncovering the answers that could turn his life upside down?
