Send Them to Hell is a horrifying, authentic chronicle of life as lived by foreign inmates over the past two decades in Bangkok's notorious prison system. Murder, human-rights abuse, drugs, blackmail, extortion, extreme violence, medical maltreatment and unjustifiable death penalties feature as everyday occurrences in the living hells that are Bangkwang and Klong Prem jails. Sebastian Williams graphically reveals this shocking reality through the eyes of a long-term inmate from the West, who endured at first hand the unimaginable, inhuman nightmare that constitutes the Thai penal system.

I had reserved a copy of this book on Sebastian's website immediately after I read his first book Send Them To Hell. He notified me that it was available and I purchased a copy right away and started on it as soon as it arrived.

All I can say is that though the first book was exceptional, this one is even better and reveals things that a lot of high level people in Thailand will probably not be too pleased to see exposed.

I found it not only highly enlightening but also, though brutally invasive and detailed in respect to uncovering the institutionalized corruption and deeply entrenched official extortion rackets, as well as the highly technical methods used by the Mafioso to export drugs worldwide, immensely emotional in places. This in particularly with how he has approached, through the eyes of a victim, the child sex slavery that runs rampant there.

All in all a best seller in the making I think. . . - PaulWhen I first saw this book I thought, 'Oh No, not another one'. I've read several of the books that have been published to date about the Thai prison system and the corruption and so on and really didn't think I would worry about spending the money on another one, but then I started to read some of what others are saying about it and decided to take the risk that I might be disappointed. I wasn't. Send Them To Hell is by far the best one I have come across. It pulls no punches at all; is fair to the establishment where it is deserved but brutal where it isn't. The attention to the tiniest detail makes it stand out among the crowd and reign supreme. The Thais will not be a bit pleased that another horror story about their antiquated and moronic judicial system and their disgusting corrections facilities and their crooked cops is being distributed all over the world to tarnish their fabricated image, but they deserve the exposure. And this one exposes plenty. Perhaps - but I doubt it - they might actually do something sensible about initiating reform. Too much cash flowing into the pockets of the real crooks (the authorities) to turn off the tap for that to happen I'm thinking. - Gary WrightThis is a very engaging story, tremendously revealing and exceptionally well presented. From what I have personally seen of Thailand whilst visiting once, and what I have read since in blogs and news reports about the way the authorities there, together with their stooges, stage arrests and convictions, it is not difficult to accept the horrors described in this book as being a true account of what actually happened. I found it extremely riveting and, though in places it was almost too shocking to carry on reading, I got through it in two sittings. I highly recommend that anyone who is planning a trip over there to read this book carefully first. 5* rating from me. - MariaMonk Read all reviews (5) Write a review
