The cult classic that can still change your life! Let the dice decide! This is the philosophy that changes the life of bored psychiatrist Luke Rhinehart -- and in some ways changes the world as well. Because once you hand over your life to the dice, anything can happen. Entertaining, humorous, scary, shocking, subversive, The Dice Man is one of the cult bestsellers of our time.

'Touching, ingenious and beautifully comic' Anthony Burgess 'Hilarious and well-written! sex always seems to be an option' Time Out 'Brilliant! very impressive' Colin Wilson
I would bet any money that any person who has read this book, upon finishing it, or whilst reading it, rolled a die and let the die decide what they should do. That, in my eyes, is the proof of an amazing author. 'The Dice Man' is gripping, darkly comic and extremely influential. Luke Rhinehart writes of controversial issues such as rape and murder and other gritty human 'desires' and yet by dubbing the die as 'God', cleverly displaces the blame and responsibility for all his actions and almost removes the stigma attached to these crimes. What I thoroughly enjoyed about the book was how chaotic it became, as Luke probably had not taken into consideration as he promoted this way of life, that if everyone used dice, how could he have any order and control to base his options on, because surely you need order to have disorder? The main reason that this book is my favourite book of all time is that...
...The die told me not to tell you. -
Hayley Hopkinsthe book really alters your view on life and if your are openminded enough it will help revaluate your values.
it is also incredibly funny in a perverted way, not a book for a strong virteous moralist -
kate kovalA bored psychiatrist learns to love life again by making decisions on the throw of the dice. It could be crass but for once the claim that 'this book actually will [change your life]' holds true. It made me think about how I make decisions, how risk averse we become as we fall in to familiar patterns of thinking, feeling and doing. Luke Rhinehart challenges all of this in The Dice Man. The story is taken to outrageous and provocative lengths and is laugh-out-loud funny. But there is a serious message too and this makes The Dice Man a great read and a potentially life-changing book. You can't say that about many books. -
