This memoir is based on a ten year period of study in the Sultanate of Oman by the Open University and associated personnel. The Oman mountains are a magnificent ophiolite, similar to the Troodos massif of Cyprus, and a project, which marked the beginning of the ten year study, was envisaged which would be used as a training ground for Saudi, Omani and British graduate students. The principle objective of this memoir is to present the major findings of the project under one cover as a coherent whole and it is aimed at geophysicists, geologists and mineralogists specializing in this area of geology.
