'A writer of excellence...King is one of the most fertile storytellers of the modern novel' -- Sunday Times 'King is the greatest popular novelist of our day, comparable to Dickens'. -- Toby Litt, Guardian
The ultimate story of good versus evil. -
Carrie O'ConnorI just love this book, I read it time and time again.
It's an accurate and scary vision of the future, what would happen if the population of the earth was practically wiped out.
The characters from all walks of life find each other and manage to survive despite the odds. -
michael CollardA sign of a good book is one that you could read again. The fact that I have already read The Stand 3 times is testament to this.
I believe The Stand to be a tremendous work of literature; it is a tale of courage, hope and strength, and is a book that makes you believe in the future of mankind.
Even though I know exactly how the plot unfolds I still cry each time I read this, as a result of Stephen King's incredible talent with words and creation of characters. This is undoubtedly his finest hour. -
