At its core The Time Traveler's Wife is an old-fashioned love story. A terrific book...startlingly original' Observer. 'Wonky, sexy, incredible' The Times. This is the extraordinary love story of Clare and Henry who met when Clare was six and Henry was thirty-six, and were married when Clare was twenty-two and Henry thirty. Impossible but true, because Henry suffers from a rare condition where his genetic clock periodically resets and he finds himself pulled suddenly into his past or future. In the face of this force they can neither prevent nor control, Henry and Clare's struggle to lead normal lives is both intensely moving and entirely unforgettable.

I was completely lost in this book as soon as I picked it up. The movement between different times, didn't confuse me, nor did the reasoning that Claire had different knowledge to Henry because of future visits from an older Henry. A beautifully crafted book which spans a life time love story. Read again and again. -
Helen CruseTime travel in America, the traveller first meeting his wife as a child, then a lover and a wife, what rubbish, I teach science, and time travel is not possible. Audrey Niffenegger gave me a credible explanation, in her book I believed that the ability to travel through time was not only possible, but could even be inherited.
I became embedded in Henry's life, seeing the future can be agonising where loved ones are involved. Arriving at new point in time naked and broke is not much fun either, only Henry being transported, not his earthly goods! I read at least 3 books a week, the best are kept for reading again, and this one has seen five readings so far, I even bought the hardback version from America before when it was launched. It is a credible, emotional, humorous tale involving characters that are easy to empathise with. Do I believe in time travel? Only through Audreys eyes where it allows me to become immersed in one of the best reads I have ever had. -
Guy MundyA modern classic. This is a book that everyone of all ages should read. It is a book that held me captivated throughout and brought me to tears at the very end. Beautiful and evocative, this book deserves to win as many awards as possible. -
