Volume I of this two-volume compendium summarizes the knowl-edge on distribution and classification of hair in humans, rate of hair growth and factors influencing the growth, hair cycle and its control mechanisms, and the loss and structure of hair. Basic characteris-tics used for the measurement of elemental composition of hair are also presented. In Volume II, all factors influencing the trace ele-ment level in hair are discussed. Numerous experiments are pre-sented and data on trace element levels in hair under different con-ditions are summarized.
