Unlike most fiction poetry bears closer scrutiny and regular rereading. War Music--and the other parts of Logue's redrafting of the epic--not only brings into the present something hitherto locked in the past but uses language in the way creative writing should: it's erudite, challenging, vibrant and unbelievably beautiful. Logue is a genius and condenses more imagery and feeling into a few economic words than many vaunted authors manage in their bloated and undisciplined output. - Simon Forty Write a review
