Maggie O'Brien is a medic on a SWAT team in St Louis who has always lived in the shadow of her father, a famous - some would say notorious - cop. But Maggie has begun to suspect that there is something seriously wrong within the city's emergency services. On the back wall of the nurses' lounge there is a list that names every person who has ever annoyed the staff, police or paramedics in the city. Only what has started as a way for overworked people to let off steam has taken on quite sinister connotations. For a growing number of the city's lowlifes and criminals are turning up dead, often after receiving non-life-threatening injuries after skirmishes with the police. Their only other link - a guest appearance on the nurses' infamous wall.
