On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
Explain the importance of standards in the area of information security, the standardization process, and the nature and roles of the various standards organizations.
Critically discuss the trade-offs and compromises that are made in formulating standards, and the difficulties of reaching national and international agreement.
Explain and critically evaluate the relationship between standardization and certification, professional accreditation, ethical and legal issues of information security, and auditing.
Describe the major information security related standards, legislature, certifications and accreditations, and how they relate to one another.
