Publisher's Synopsis

Framlingham is a magnificent late-12th-century castle, its striking outline reflected in the nearby meer. The castle was built by Roger Bigod, Earl of Norfolk, and was home to the earls and dukes of Norfolk for over 400 years. The castle was briefly owned by Mary Tudor, and she used it as the rallying point for her supporters in the turbulent days after the death of Edward VI. In the mid-17th century, a poorhouse was built within the walls of the castle. This guidebook includes a tour and history of the castle and its inhabitants, illustrated with new drawings, photographs, plans and historical imagery.
