Publisher's Synopsis

Documentary that attempts to shed new light on the life of Baroness Pannonica de Koenigswarter, a well known lover and patron of jazz music. Directed by Hannah Rothschild, a relation of the Baroness, the film focuses on the extraordinary period of Pannonica's life where she separated from her wealthy husband and went to live in New York. There, she became a friend and patron of various jazz greats, including Thelonious Monk (whose song 'Pannonica' was named in her honour) and Charlie Parker, often indulging in extravagant gestures such as lending them her chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce to get to and from performances. The documentary is narrated by Helen Mirren.
