Publisher's Synopsis
Lucha Leonesa, or Leonese grappling, is a traditional sport and martial art that originates in the León region of northern Spain. It is profoundly ingrained in the cultural heritage of the region and boasts a lengthy history.
Folk wrestling known as Lucha Leonesa emphasizes the use of grappling techniques, trips, and tosses to defeat the opponent. Wrestlers attend practices on grass or dirt surfaces and are attired in a specialized garment comprising form-fitting trousers and a waist sash.
The regulation and promotion of Lucha Leonesa on a national and international level are the responsibility of the Federación de Lucha Leonesa (Leonese Wrestling Federation) in Spain. Lucha Leonesa, similar to numerous conventional martial arts, functions not solely as a competitive endeavor but also as a vehicle for safeguarding cultural customs and fostering physical well-being and self-control.
