Publisher's Synopsis

This book is a memoir that narrates a mixture of tranquil days in Bhutan (my birthplace) and sorrowful journeys following forceful eviction from homeland, then surviving in the refugee camp in Nepal (host country) since childhood with shattered moments (do I better replace this word with periods or times?). It also elaborates the mixture of my joyous and painful days after I relocated in the United States in 2008. My book is a detail of my experience living in two different worlds- from growing up in the traditional society of the East and then migrating to the industrialized society of the West in my adulthood. It is a book about my perceptions and observations of differing attitudes, approaches, treatments and subjective judgment towards the poor, sick, elderlies, and people with disabilities as I moved from the East to the West. My book is an account of my painful and tough journey for having endured 17 years of hardships of a Bhutanese Refugee camp in eastern Nepal, surviving through relief support provided by a United Nations Refugee Agency. It also features my new life with cochlear implant journey. It speaks my faint voices and energized life after I survived the serious auto-crash injury. It captures my struggles to adapt in the mainstream American society with enormous shifts in life-styles all the while trying to keep up and fuse my Eastern values with western lifestyles.
